The men's band named after St. Ephrem Szír was founded in 2002 by the band's artistic director, Liszt Prize winner Tamás Bubnó. According to their own formulation, the ensemble's "main goal is to research, present and popularize the vocal heritage of the Byzantine rite Christian world, to introduce the beauty and mystery of Byzantine music primarily to Hungarian and European audiences.
