The Margaret Island in the autumn of 2013 established a three-member Hungarian alternative popegyüttes.
In their songs, they combine an acoustic and folkpop soundscape with folk music elements, to counterbalance which they chose a strange-sounding name for the band.[1] Their music was heavily influenced by Mumford & Sons and Passenger.[2] Their first album was released in September 2015 under the title Once upon a time, and the second in 2016 under the title Bakancslista. Most of their lyrics were written by Szabolcs Hujber (e.g. Eső, Bolyongó, Veled minda, Libikóka, Napfény, Ringató, Eçon vol), and János Bródy wrote lyrics for two of their songs (Nem voltál jó, which was originally published in English /Soaked In Life/ and morning fever).[3] On their records, they also received arrangements of János Bródy's earlier compositions (A girl walks on the hillside; Let me be free). According to the members of the band, the first record symbolizes the end of childhood, a kind of coming of age.[4] The band is published by Gold Record.
