Sustainability and environmental awareness are the focus of the 29th Valley of the Arts.
From July 19 to 28, the festival awaits those interested with about 1,500 programs at 35 locations in the three towns of the Balaton highlands, Kapolcs, Taliándörögd and Vigántpetend.
We organized many programs for all three settlements, and we opened to Vigántpetend. Our goal is for the festival itself to remain sustainable and on a human scale. Among the 35 program venues and 40 additional fair and exhibition venues, there will be several new ones, such as the creative arts MANK Artporta in Taliándörögd, the Pest-Buda Udvar in Kapolcs, and the Fülig Jimmy Fényudvar in Vigántpetend with alternative bands, said chief organizer Natália Oszkó-Jakab at Thursday's at a press conference in Budapest.
As he pointed out, the valley continues to become greener, in the spirit of this, the reusable cup system is being introduced, and the plates and cutlery are made of degradable materials. He added: I want to drastically reduce last year's 47 tons of waste this year. Regarding the latter, Krisztina Csobay, president of the Green Belt Association, emphasized that the festival, which attracts 70,000 visitors, has a responsibility towards society.
Angéla Hont, the head of organization and communication at the House of Traditions, spoke about the fact that they will be present for the fifth time in the Valley of the Arts with FolkUdvaru, where visitors are welcomed with various programs, from handicrafts to folk dances, folk tales, and a folk pub with a dance hall.
"For us, sustainability means that the lonely people of our time can once again find community in folk traditions. It is also worth going back to village peasant farming in the midst of the environmental problems of the 21st century," he said. FolkUdvar's evening music line will be defined by the spirit of Bartók and Kodály, among the performers will be, for example, Muzsikás, Szalonna és Bandája, Mihály Dresch, Béla Romengo and Ágoston or Vujicsics.
On the main light music venue, the Panoráma Színpad in Kapolcs, Germany's Alice Francis, Britain's Amber Run and Kosheen will also perform, Boban Markovic Orkestar will perform together with Palya Bea, Quimby, Csík Zenekar, Péterfy Bori & Love, among others from the top Hungarian bands. Band, Kiscsillag, 30Y, Vad Fruttik, Irie Maffia, László Dés (guest Juli Básti), Budapest Bar and Balázs Szabó's Band, celebrating its tenth birthday with a joint production with the Modern Art Orchestra, will be there. Ivan & The Parazol will also give a concert at Kőbánya Udvar and Pest-Buda Udvar - at the latter venue, in addition to the music, during the day the problems of the capital will be discussed with the involvement of experts. Light music is also played in the Hobo Club, klinikA Udvar and Hangfoggaló Udvar.
The Cirque du Tókert presents the new circus and contemporary dance, but also stages the film music program of the Óbuda Danubia Orchestra, András Kern, and also hosts the Palace of Miracles during the day. In the Papageno Klasszik Udvar, educational performances lead up to the evening concerts, in the Csórompusztán there are installations from the Hello Wood camp, the International Music Court offers both foreign and domestic performers, the Muharay Udvar offers folk traditions with Márta Sebestyén, Balázs Szokolay Dongó and the Budapest String Orchestra, the Színház Színpad and more between Trafó, Örkény Színház and Nézőművészeti Kft. will also be there with their performances. The Momentán Udvar is the home of the Momentán Társulat again this year, Harcsa Veronika Udvar and Muflon Jazz Udvar are the venue for jazz, and András Szőke is preparing three performances a day at the House of Ancestors in Taliándörögd.
The University of Theater and Film is moving to the Valley of the Arts, archival, children's and documentary films are being screened, the Hungarian Writers' Association is holding programs, and Kaláka Versudvar will once again be here, with the 50-year-old house band giving the venue's closing concert.
