Global climate change is felt by the Lake Balaton
It must prepare for the fact that the weather is becoming more extreme. According to the models, this summer is expected to be warmer than average, with average precipitation.
As a result of global climate change, many things have changed in the weather, the atmosphere has built a different circulation system in the last couple of years. Meteorologist Ákos Horváth, head of the Siófok Storm Warning Observatory, spoke about this at the Siófok conference held on Tuesday on the occasion of World Water Day.
In the opening lecture of the event organized by the Balaton Development Council, the expert also spoke about how last year, in addition to the drought that hit Western Europe, Balaton was extremely lucky. - The local thunderstorms kept the atmosphere and the moisture balance in balance, Lake Balaton did not dry up in Hungarian and there were no extreme events like in 2003 - said Ákos Horváth with the addition: it is possible that a drought will develop over our region this year causing anticyclone. That is why it was important that the operational water level of Balaton was raised to 120 centimeters. Sonline.hu
