János Keszey, the mayor of Balatonalmádi, said that the buildings used for the programs were acquired by the municipality with government assistance. For the implementation of the ideas, the city received a government grant of half a billion forints, of which about 300 million forints will be spent on the renovation of the monastery building - including the modernization of the water and heating system and the design of rooms - and two hundred million forints will be used for the implementation of programs over two years.
The neighboring granary building was purchased by the city with HUF 120 million state support in 2017, he added. The mayor emphasized: the development of the Vörösberény cultural center will bring a qualitative change to the cultural life of Balatonalmádi.
Imre Kerényi, the chief director of the program and prime minister's representative, emphasized that by using the two buildings for cultural purposes, they want to give character to the old baroque settlement core of Vörösberény.
In the summer, they organize a painting school for students under the artistic direction of painter Lajos Veszeli, in the framework of which they can create in several art forms, from silk painting to graphics. Gergely Bogányi, Alex Szilasi, Tamás Érdi, Gergely Rákász and Gergő Teleki also give concerts at the granary concerts.
In the granary, the Petőfi Theater company from Veszprém will also present themselves, there will be children's programs, gypsy music evenings, and Iván Bagi and Olivér Nacsa, as well as Sándor Fábry, will be on stage at the cabaret. And in the fortress church of Vöröberény, the artists of the Academy of Music give early music concerts three times.
On the first weekend of September, the Transdanubian Fine Arts Salon and Fair are organized in the Magtár, and in the spirit of preserving tradition, a vintage parade and ball are also held.
Imre Kerényi said that the monastery will host the Gizella camps in 2019, which he characterized as community-forging, historical consciousness-forming, patriotic, Christian camps. A total of ninety young people can participate in the experience camp, planned in three two-week shifts.
