Nébih: The ban on catching six more fish species will begin on April 15th
The ban on catching six more fish species will begin on Monday: garda, chub, paddock, plum-nosed bream, saithe, and barbel, until May 31, the National Food Chain Safety Authority (Nébih) said on Friday.
They remind us that until April 30, the ban on catching the three predatory fish species - perch, perch and perch - will remain in effect.
Nébih highlights that this year's breeding season has already begun for several species of bream, so far mainly for those that are not protected by the prohibition period. With the warming of the water, it is expected that the breeding season of garda, chub, paduc, plum-nosed bream, bream and mullet will also begin. The ban on catching six species of fish primarily affects river fishermen, although a significant number of the Gardaí live in Lake Balaton as well.
In natural waters, there is a great need to protect spawning fish in order to ensure the reproduction of the animals. That is why it is unethical to fish for spawning fish, regardless of whether they are protected by a prohibition period or not, says the Nébih announcement.
