Raceboard world championship surfing federations to organize next year
Next year, the Hungarian Surfing Association (MSZSZ) will organize a World Raceboard Championship in Balatonfüred. Announcing the news at Thursday's press conference, Balázs Szalay, the president of MSZSZ, reminded that in 2017 a successful Raceboard European Championship was also held in Balatonfüred. Then Áron Gádorfalvi won gold and Sára Cholnoky won bronze.
The Raceboard is a competition surfboard that also has a svert (fin), its length is 3-4 meters, the largest sail is 9.5 square meters for men and 8.5 square meters for women. The Raceboard class includes both the current and former Olympic class, so you can start with RSX Olympic equipment.
The two Hungarian competitors are currently preparing for the Olympic qualification world championships in September. At the next World Cup on Lake Garda, nine Tokyo quotas will be distributed for both women and men. Until then, Áron Gádorfalvi still has a Raceboard European Championship next week in the Czech Republic, where he aims for the podium.
Sára Cholnoky competed in the pentathlon games for the first time in Rio, and the 41-year-old Gádorfalvi can participate in her record seventh Olympics in Tokyo if she succeeds in qualifying.
Balázs Szalay announced at the press conference that Spíler TV will be the title sponsor of the five-round Hungarian championship. The channel will report on surfing in Hungary in a weekly half-hour magazine program.
