Begin construction of eight highway bypass section in Veszprém
The construction of the bypass section of the main road 8 in Veszprém can start, the parliamentary representative of the region and the mayor of the city announced in Veszprém on Friday. Péter Ovádi, a parliamentary member of parliament, called the investment an important and priority development of the region. He thanked Tibor Navracsics, a former Member of Parliament for the region, who worked between 2010 and 2014 to complete the construction plans for the section and begin the expropriations.
The MP emphasized that in the last year, the bypass had once again been included in the priority programs, and that the necessary resources were now included in the government's decision on complex road renovations.
Gyula Porga, the Fidesz mayor of Veszprém, emphasized: Development is also important for Veszprém because the city will host European handball championship matches in 2022, and Veszprém will be the cultural capital of Europe in 2023.
The first phase of the bypass road - from the Liter branch to the Balatonfüred junction - will be completed in two stages, with the investment of the National Infrastructure Development Zrt., twice on two lanes, with physical separation and separate level junctions.
The first section, which will be completed by December 2021, will be built on about 4.5 kilometers from the Liter branch, with the reconstruction of the junction currently leading to Budapest, parallel to which the road serving the city's leisure and sports center and connecting roads 8 and 82 will be completed. On the second, nearly three-kilometer section, which will be completed by the end of 2022 and extends to the Balatonfüred junction, two separate level junctions will be built towards Balatonalmádi and Balatonfüred.
