The Magyar Konyha Balaton 2018 gastro guide has been published with a gastro map

Together with the gastronomic map of the Balaton Circle, the Magyar Konyha 2018 gastronomic guide, which collects the best restaurants, wineries, pastry shops, beach buffets and markets in the Balaton area, was published.

Magyar Konyha magazine first published its Balaton gastronomic guide six years ago with the aim of raising awareness: in addition to the "depressing dead ends" of mass catering, there are also quality restaurants on Lake Balaton - recalled the chairman of the editorial board of Magyar Konyha at the presentation of this year's publication in Budapest on Wednesday.
Anikó Lévai added: since then, the staff of the magazine have been visiting the area around the lake, not only looking for restaurants, since quality can be seen even in the simplest fish fry.
Nowadays, the gastro revolution is not only a promise, but also a reality around Lake Balaton; this is proven by the fact that only 170 units were included in the first guide, while this year they can already offer 400 quality places - emphasized Anikó Lévai.
Bence Laposa, the president of the Balaton Circle, reminded us that their professional organization was created four years ago to bring together the highest quality restaurants, wineries, and bistros in the area.
The goal of the Balatoni Kör is to change the image of the region, of Balaton hospitality, emphasized Bence Laposa, adding: this is also served by their gastro map, published for the first time this year in 100,000 copies, which presents the current 41 members of the organization.
József Vinkó, the editor-in-chief of Magyar Konyha, revealed that 60 places that were still included in last year's edition were omitted from this year's gastro guide, but 160 new ones were added. The authors of the publication do not test anonymously, but now traditionally take their name, and they also checked that no unit that was not opened this season was included in the gastro-guide.
The 190-page volume presents the recommended restaurants and wineries by subregion, but also contains regional top lists. In addition to the names of the units, pictograms show which places also offer accommodation, which are open all year round, and in the name index, new players are marked by a different color.
József Vinkó told MTI that the Balaton 2018 guide, packaged together with the Balatoni Kör gastronomic map, is available on newsstands from Thursday, together with the July-August issue of Magyar Konyha.
