The organizer and the nearly 3,000 runners woke up relieved on Saturday due to the worrying epidemic, and everyone was happy to have the opportunity to run together today. True, due to the situation, the event was shortened to one day this year instead of the usual two-day running party. Nevertheless, the variety of distances available remains, K&H move! Even in the Balaton marathon and half marathon, all participants found the distance that suited their training level or running spirit.
The shortest distance, the sixth marathon, could be completed by the runners individually, the longer ones by pairs, the marathon distance could be completed in three stages by those who chose the longest challenge for themselves today. As a novelty this year, in addition to the sixth, third and half marathons, a quarter of the marathon distance could be completed at the event.
Three runners were waiting for the runners at the almost iconic venue of the event, the Petőfi promenade in Siófok, dressed in autumn, which is probably one of the most beautiful start-finish lines in Hungarian running. At 10 o'clock 14 km was waiting for the runners individually or in pairs (2 * 7 km track), at 12:30 the half marathon field and the quarter marathon started (2 * 10.5 km), and at 16 o'clock the 7 km could be completed by the participants. The morning started with a pungent and foggy weather, unfortunately the clouds didn't expand later, but the fog had already given way to the half marathon start, so an ideal running time, a run-down run on Lake Balaton, awaited the most populous field of the day.
In the minutes before the start, István Lakatos, BSI's social relations officer, symbolically handed over the donation from the offerings of the runners starting the event to Zsuzsi Sallai, the founder of Pomázi Futó SE, a well-known figure in Hungarian running sports. With the offerings, the runners of the event want to contribute to the recovery of Zsuzsi. K&H move! The autumn stop of the BSI four-season Half Marathon Mania challenge at the Balaton Half Marathon, who will reach the finish line at this event in the 21.1-kilometer run, can be considered to have completed the autumn season. And by collecting four half marathons, every runner becomes eligible for a four-season free medal. Half of the distance, ie the quarter marathon, is part of the Ten Mania.
