The Balaton Uplands National Park is being built next to the Mura

The Balaton Uplands National Park Directorate (BFNPI) is building a majority on the border of Letenye, along the Mura, with a HUF 470 million EU subsidy, the national park informed MTI on Friday.

According to the announcement, the construction of the livestock farm on the border of Letenye has started from the tender won for the development of a complex habitat and a farming center along the Mura. The contractor of the investment is Dél-Konstrukt Építőipari Zrt.
As part of the tender, the shrubby, overgrown grasslands along the Mura, managed by the BFNPI, will also be restored so that they can restart the grazing in the area. On about 150 hectares, alien tree species are removed from the floodplain forests, replaced by native plants, and on 75 hectares, wooded pastures are restored to create livestock conditions. In addition to the livestock farm, which can accommodate up to 200 gray cattle and is equipped with machine rooms, a 3.5-kilometer educational trail will be set up.
